Welcome to Québec

Québec is geographically, historically and culturally unique among North American destinations, and a must-see for any traveller. Its four very distinct seasons, immense territory and breathtaking, diverse natural vistas mean you can succumb to its charms at any time of year.

The people here are warm and welcoming, and known far and wide for their incomparable joie de vivre. They also take pride in their French heritage. While English is spoken or understood almost everywhere in the province, especially in its largest cities, French is the language used by the vast majority of its citizens. Some seven million people call Québec home. Nearly 70,000 Amerindians belonging to 10 different nations, as well as 9,000 Inuit, live in approximately 50 villages scattered throughout the territory of Québec.

Québécois arts and culture, typified by boundless creative energy, find expression in literature and the performing arts, as well as in painting, sculpture and arts & crafts. Each year, countless events showcase the astounding quality of Québec’s artistic and cultural output, as well as the close ties that bind local artists with other creators around the world.

Québecers appreciate the joys of fine dining and always enjoy a good time. Festivals, events and attractions abound in this magnificent land, where a thousand and one discoveries await you during an unforgettable stay!
